Speaker of the Dead
I started reading a book for Physics class called Speaker of the Dead. It is the book that follows Ender's Game. To be completely honest, it is the weirdest book I have ever read. The first book was extremely good, and I would recommend it for anyone, but to take on the second book you definitely have to be prepared. I have never read such a strange book in my entire life. It takes place many years in the future on many different planets. At that point in time, there are many inhabitable planets, but the only known species is the humans and this knew thing called the Piggies. The reason the book is so weird is because you learn about this species that is completely different to humans. All of their habits and traditions are crazy and some break laws that we have, yet to the Piggies, everything is completely normal. Then, there are things that we do that seem odd to the Piggies. It is extremely interesting to see the differences between to species and how they react to each other. It really starts to make you think about what would happen if the humans actually did find another species of life that has the same mental capacity as humans.
Harrrrrry Potter.
Hi, i'm halfway through the first Harry Potter. I don't really know what's happening. I feel like i'm forcing myself through it at this point and i'm not enjoying it. Harry is figuring out that Snape doesn't like him and stuff. So far i'm not really into it.

The Recruit by Robert Muchamore
The Recruit is actually really good. I went and say the new James Bond movie and the similarities are incredible. The book is about a young boy that is recruited into an organization called CHERUB. CHERUB is an organization belonging to MI6. The only difference is that CHERUB only allows children under the age of 17 to participate. Not only that, but the children that are chosen are generally orphans and excel in areas such as math, science, martial arts, and other physical activities. The way the book is written, you almost want to endure the required 100 days of basic training just to be able to attend the school. The school provided for any child that participates in CHERUB is the typical spy-based school. It makes any average student extremely jealous of the daily lessons at their school. Lessons can range anywhere from Advanced Mathematics to the art of Espionage. The kid in this book could seriously grow up to be James Bond and I wouldn't even be surprised. After all, James Bond was an orphan that was eventually picked up by MI6. Though the events are obviously fictional, it makes you wonder how much truth is behind what actually occurs in this book. I am definitely looking forward to the next book. I'm hoping it entertains me as much as the previous. Although the writing is somewhat elementary, the plot is fantastic.

Sherlock Holmes
I'm reading the tales of Sherlock Holmes. Right now he has been approached by Dr. Mortimer and he has requested Sherlock's assistance in finding a lady that was kidnapped by a mysterious man.
P.S. I Love You
I am reading P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. The main character is Holly, and she is married to Jerry. I just started the book, so not much has happened. I have seen the movie, but the book is always better and slightly different.
Harry Potter
I am reading the first Harry Potter book. So far, Harry has been dropped off at the Dursley's and has lived there for ten years. His room under the stairs and the whole family hates him. Mrs. Figg broke her leg, so she can't look after Harry on Dudley's birthday. Harry is excited to be going somewhere other than Mrs. Figg's, which smells like cabbage and she always shows Harry pictures of all the cats she's ever owned.
The Time Machine (H.G. Wells)
I am reading The Time Machine By H.G. Wells. The characters in the book so far, is the The Time Traveler, psychologist, and a medical man. The time traveler is trying to prove that their is four dimensions. It is about a man who has created a smaller time machine replica, and is in the process of creating a bigger one he could use. He tests the smaller one which works, however all of the people he showed it to show a lot of spectism. So far it is a intresting book.

So far the Time Traveler has went back into to time, and came back and now is explaining what had happened while in the future. He went back into time and while their he met two new races of animals. Their are no humans left on earth. They first have the land animals, which are caring however very stupid. They dont show any attempt to save people or help though if they are hurt. They speak a weird language. The other ones are spider like animals which live under ground and only come out during the night. They hate the light, unlike the ones above ground which, hate the dark. So far it is rather confusing.

So . . . What're you reading?
If you haven't picked out a book yet, what are you thinking about? What books have you enjoyed in the past? Maybe I can offer a suggestion.
My favorite British author is Terry Pratchett. He writes smart, funny fantasy about Discworld. It's a flat planet riding on the back of four elephants, which stand on the back of an astronomical turtle. I love that he's irreverent yet pays homage to many great old stories. My favorite characters are the three witches. Granny Weatherwax blows my mind. He does such a great job of making her complex and developing her as the series goes on.
Now, it's your turn. What are you reading?
